Our focus for Green Week in Room 8 was how we can help the whales by being great caretakers of the oceans - kaitiaki o te moana.
We have been digging a little deeper into why whales are so important by learning about the nutrient recycling service they provide in ocean ecosystems. These nutrients are then eaten by phytoplankton and other small sea creatures. Without whales, our oceans will become very unhealthy.
What interesting facts do you know about whales? How can you help protect them? Please leave a comment below with your great ideas.
