In Room 8 we have been writing learning about different genres. Here is our shared writing, changing the traditional tale of the Three Little Pigs into a newspaper report. Check out our individual blogs for more examples.
Angry Wolf Blows Down Pig House
Three little pigs found themselves in terrible danger Saturday afternoon when they were paid a visit by a big, bad wolf.
Approximately at 2:30 pm on Saturday 6th of September, the Big Bad Wolf began his attack on three innocent pigs. He huffed and puffed, part in anger, part out of hunger, destroying 2 newly built houses. Miss Bow Peep, a neighbour walking her sheep told reporters that "I was frightened for my life. The scary wolf huffed and puffed so hard that I was blown down the street and my sheep ended up in a tree. No wonder those cheaply built houses fell down.”
Mr Number 1 Pig told reporters that “I knew the wolf was up to no good because I saw him watching me from the woods.” He went on to say that if he knew a house of straw was not wolf proof he would never have brought it in the first place. "No wonder it was so cheap!”
When Mr Number 2 Pig was interviewed about what happened he stated "I had heard that the Big Bad Wolf was back in town after the Woodcutter chased him out of Fairytale Forest. If I had realised how hungry he was I would have never have stayed in my house of sticks as I didn’t buy the anti-wolf protection for the windows and doors. What a silly mistake!”
Mr Number 3 Pig claimed that it all came to a horrible end when the Big Bad Wolf had chassed his 2 brothers across town to his house in Brickville. Mr Number 3 Pig told reporters that he moved here a few weeks ago when he found out that houses made of out sticks and straw were not up to wolf code. “When I heard that wolf on the roof I knew all my self-defence wolf training had been the right call. As soon as my brothers were safe inside my house of bricks, I locked all the doors and windows and then put a big pot of hot water on the fire. Just like I was taught.” Mr Number 3 Pig went on to say it was still a shock when the Big Bad Wolf fell down his chimney into the boiling water with a splash.
The Three Little Pigs are living together temporarily in Brickville while Mr Number 1 and 2 Pigs are waiting on their house insurance money. They are planning on building their new houses out of brick. “We have leant our lessons the hard way," they told reporters.
The Big Bad Wolf is recovery well in jail and is very sorry for his behaviour. He is receiving counselling to help with his out of control hunger issues. He also told reporters that he is trying to become a vegetarian but it’s hard as he likes bacon so much. He is taking it one day at a time.
Good writing room 8!
