1, 2, 3.......lets learn to love our seas!
Room 8 has been learning about the Hauraki Gulf and how we can help protect it, for Green Week.Did you know that the Bryde Whale can measure up to 15 metres! Tamati and Bitner from Room 6 measured this out with a rope and it was as long as our hall!
Did you know that 1 mussel can filter 360 litres of water in one day? Riley showed us this in action by putting some mussels in a jar with seawater to be cleaned. We saw the water getting clearer throughout the assembly. Amazing!

It was a great assembly on Tuesday. I like how Riley gave us hope and inspired us to help the ocean. If we all do something every day (like picking up rubbish) we can make a difference.
ReplyDeleteOcean fact: The largest ocean on Earth is the Pacific Ocean, it covers around 30% of the Earth’s surface.
