Garden to table

This week our menu was from the Middle East. We made broadbean falafels, pita bread and salad of the imagination (from what was found in our school gardens). For pudding we had pear and feijoas crumble (not from the middle East but delicious anyway).  Before we started, we learnt about the differences between teaspoons and tablespoons. This will come in very handy when we are cooking this year.

Charlotte, Lucy and Maxine have mastered measuring.
Jack (with his excellent knife skills) Maxine and Charlotte making the crumble.
Matteo, Lahtel and Atapana punching the pita dough into shape.
The pita bread baking in the oven. We were amazed at how the pita bread puffed up.

Fiona and Lucy making the falafels.

Alla washing the chickpeas for our falafels.
Ahmed, Jethro and Ethan working independently, making the salad. It was delicious!

  1. Hi Room 21, I'd never heard of this programme until this morning and can't believe how amazing you are! I'd love to talk recipes and seasonal growing with you all at some point. Awesome to see such cultural diversity within your food being cooked. You guys rock!
