Today, we acted out a famous (in NZ) story about our schools namesake, Wairaka. She was the brave and heroic daughter of Toroa, the chief of Ngati Awa. The story we acted out was about how Wairaka saved her tribe by paddling a large waka (canoe) off the rocks. This was something women in her day would never have done.
Now we are going to write our own version of the story. Check back in a few days, they will be on our blogs soon.
