Botanic Gardens

As part of our plants and insects topic, Room 17 went on a class trip to the Botanic Gardens. We spent time looking at all the different plant species in the amazing gardens and then had a workshop all about pollination. It was a fantastic day!

It was a lovely day to be in the gardens - watch out Joshua, that water looks cold.

Our favourite garden - The Potters Children's Garden.

Learning about the life cycle of the kowhai tree.

We put on our scientist hats and observed the followers closely. We saw stamen, stigma and pollen.

We dissected flowers to look at all the parts. These are now in our class to help us remember.

Harris, Hemi and Teio pretended to be flowers to help show us how bee pollinate.

To end the workshop we all planted sweet pea flowers and took them home to grow.
