Stardome fun facts!

Friday was a fun filled day in Room 17. We went to the Stardome and learnt all about the planets in the solar system. Here are a few interesting facts we learnt.

Did you Know...
  • In 2006, astronomers changed the definition of a planet. This means that Pluto is now referred to as a dwarf planet
  • Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system with a surface temperature of over 450 degrees celsius.
  • Saturn isn't the only ringed planet, other gas giants such as Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also have rings, they are just less obvious.
  • Jupiter's 4 biggest moons are named Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and Io.
  • The Sun is over 300000 times larger than earth.

  3. Hi room 17,
I like watching the 3D movie because you could lay down and look at the roof. I learnt about space. Did you know that the earth orbits around the sun.

  4. Hello Room 17.
It look's like the stardome was fun? I enjoyed watching the movie in the theatre because the Alien's were telling us about the planet's. Did you know that you can not land on the gas giants, like Jupiter.
