Happy Diwali everyone!

On Tuesday we had a special assembly where the Kalika Kala Kendra dance group performed the Lavani dance for us. Lavani is a folk dance form from Maharashtra State of India performed to the beat of a Dholki which is a hand drum. The term Lavani comes from the word lavanya and this means beauty. We were amazed to find out that the bells that the dancers wear around their ankles weigh about 7 kgs each!

  3. Kia Ora, My name is Shanen from room 5. I like the clothes they wear it for the Diwali festival, looks really festive. Maybe next time you could import a video of them dancing. How long did it take them to rehearse the dance. Great job on the post!
